What is Gold-filled?
Gold filled is a layered material created by bonding a layer of gold to a base metal, typically brass, using heat and pressure. To be classified as gold filled, the gold layer must make up at least 5% of the total metal content by weight, or 1/20 of the item. This ensures a durable and long-lasting piece of jewelry that maintains its color and won't irritate your skin, even if you have metal allergies.
